About

Hello,

I'm Andrew Kirby...

I'm the owner and operator of Kirbco Specialty Welding LLC. I first want to personally thank you for taking the time to visit my website and learn more about me and my business.

I've been married to my beautiful wife since 2014, and we have two amazing boys together.

In my spare time, I enjoy mountain biking, skateboarding, spending time with my family and friends, and being invoveld in my church.

My wife and I are also foster parents, and are very passionate about helping to meet the current needs of kids in our community.

Professionally speaking...

I first began welding in 2014 and recieved my Welding Certificate in the Spring of 2015. From 2015-2018 I was emloyed as a welder/fabricator for a large company that specialized in multiple types of conveyor systems. During my employment here, I gained experience working with thin stainless sheet metal, as well as large structural components that were either stainless or A36 steel.

In both 2018 and 2023, I've had the opportunity to teach welding classes at a local community college here in Lynchburg. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and have loved seeing my students be able to grow and succeed in their welding abilities, each time I've taught.

From the Fall of 2018-Spring of 2023, I was employed at a company that works with major defense contractors. I was promoted to the Welding Supervisor position  in  2020, and contined to hold that title until I chose to pursue a different job opportunity in 2023.  While I was employed at this company, I was able to obtain multiple qualifications in several different welding processes. I gained experience with military welding codes, as well as multiple AWS codes; including, but not limited to: (AWS D1.1), (AWS D1.2), (AWS D1.6), (AWS D1.9), and (AWS D17.1).

I have experience welding and testing on Titanium, Stainless, Aluminum, Armour Steel, and much more. I also have experience welding on very low tolerance parts that require multiple QC inspections to insure the parts are within the required parameters.

I have access to a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI),  so if your part requires that certification, I am able to arrange that.

With this prior experience and knowledge, I have very high standards that I hold myself to, and I am confident that I will be able to provide you with the professionalism and reputable work you are looking for. I look forward to working with you.  Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have- I will be happy to help answer them however I can. Thanks!
